My approach to treating patients

While central Florida boasts many fine orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians, Dr. William Bennett specializes in an area of tissue regeneration and recovery that sets him a world apart. A board certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bennett has many years of experience in working with use of the body’s own stem cells and platelets to regenerate cartilage and tissue. Often this process can delay or avoid surgery altogether. If surgery is needed, Dr. Bennett is trained in techniques that will allow the body to regenerate itself toward a faster, more complete recovery than would be possible otherwise.

Bennett Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is located just 2 blocks north of Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Dr. Bennett practices in the Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice areas of Sarasota County and Manatee County, Florida. The practice also serves North Port, Englewood, Port Charlotte and Lakewood Ranch.

Examples of his techniques include: • collagen meniscus implant (Menaflex) • minimally invasive surgical techniques ranging from • arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, • minimally invasive/quadriceps sparing Total Knee Replacement, • cartilage regeneration techniques (Carticel) to Growth Factor (PRP-platelet enriched plasma) therapy, • bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cell therapy (BMAC2), • custom-made patient-specific partial knee replacement and biologic knee rejuvenation as an option to Total Knee Replacement.

Athletes, like the ones to the right of the screen have benefited by the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques. Innovative approaches include: • Using your own cartilage cells • Blood-platelets and/or stem cells(bone-marrow derived) to rejuvenate damaged joints, as opposed to Cortisone injections and metal and plastic implants.

However, if a knee replacement with metal and plastic implants are necessary, Dr. Bennett uses a minimally invasive approach that allows his patients to walk without a cane in 3 weeks, and many times in as little as 7-10 days.
