My approach to treating patients
Welcome to my web site. My name is John P. Salvo, Jr., M.D., and I currently at the Rothman Institute in the Philadelphia/ Southern NJ area. I was previously Director of Sports Medicine at the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute at Cooper Health System in South Jersey. I created this web site to familiarize you with my sports medicine and orthopaedic practice and the services we provide.
I am a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional orthopaedic care. My area of expertise is sports medicine and arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow. I have extensive experience with ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder instability in athletes.
I have a special interest in hip arthroscopy. This is a minimally invasive, arthroscopic approach to hip surgery that allows treatment of hip injuries on an outpatient basis. Few surgeons throughout the country have the type of training and expertise necessary to perform this type of surgery. I serve as an instructor both regionally and nationally teaching other orthopaedic surgeons how to perform these procedures.
I have experience dealing with high school, college, and professional athletes. I am currently team physician/ consultant with several local high schools and colleges. I have previously served as a Team Physician for the Philadelphia Wings professional lacrosse team, Assistant Team Physician for the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), and Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL). During my sports medicine fellowship at the University of Miami, I served as an Assistant Team Physician for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), as well as Team Physician for the Florida International University Golden Panthers and University of Miami Hurricanes.
