He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Medical School and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. His internship was completed at McKennan Hospital in South Dakota and his orthopaedic residency the University of Wisconsin Hospitals. Dr. Rogerson is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin –School of Medicine.

Dr. Rogerson has practiced orthopaedic medicine in Madison for more than 24 years. A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Rogerson specializes in care of the shoulder, hip and knee with expertise in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, reconstructive surgery and joint replacement.

Dr. Rogerson has been an innovator in the area of arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and has introduced several new techniques to the national Shoulder Arthroscopy Study Group.

In addition to authoring several chapters in medical textbooks on arthroscopic surgical technique, Dr. Rogerson has given many presentations to national physician groups and has been particularly active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He enjoys teaching other surgeons about arthroscopic surgical techniques and has been a Master Instructor at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago on numerous occasions.

As an active member of AANA, Dr. Rogerson served on the Association's Board of Directors from 1996 to 1999. He also served on the Education Committee from 1991 to 1993, and as chairman of the Membership Committee from 1995 to 1999.

Dr. Rogerson currently is secretary of the Board of Directors of AANA, vice-chair of the Orthopaedic Learning Center Committee and a member of the Health Policy Committee in 2003 and 2004.

His more recent arthroscopic interests include cartilage preservation and regeneration techniques, and arthroscopy of the hip to forestall arthritis.

At the other end of the spectrum from the truly minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Rogerson is a well respected reconstructive surgeon of the shoulder, hip and knee. He has been one of area's more active total joint replacement surgeons, utilizing state-of-the-art laminar air flow and hood filtration systems in all of his cases to lessen the potential for infection. He was one of the first surgeons in the region to utilize computer-generated, custom, total joint replacements in selected cases. Currently, he is advancing minimally invasive techniques into the joint replacement area. He is also progressing into alternative bearing surfaces and "resurfacing" in the shoulder and hip.

In addition to the societies mentioned above, Dr. Rogerson is a member of the following medical societies: • International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. • American College of Sports Medicine. • Dane County Sports Medicine Society. • Wisconsin Orthopaedic Society. • Dane County Medical Society. • Wisconsin Medical Society. • Madison Orthopaedic Society. • The American Medical Association.
