My approach to treating patients
Wecome to my web site. I have created this site to help familiarize you with the scope of my practice and to facilitate research on topics that may be of concern.
I am a Board Certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of hip and knee pain, injury, disease and deformity, including arthritis, in adults. Although I consider myself an expert in hip and knee replacement surgery for end stage arthritis, my goal is to try to preserve the patient's own joint through appropriate and timely intervention. In addition to a total joint fellowship and experience training military orthopaedic surgeons in the field of total joint replacement, I have spent time training with some of the finest surgeons in the world in the field of hip and knee preservation surgery. I perform surgical hip dislocation surgery to repair impingement lesions including tears of the acetabular labrum in the hip, periacetabular osteotomies (the "Ganz" PAO) for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), as well as resurfacing arthroplasties ("Birmingham" Hip) for young adults with end stage hip disease and total hip arthroplasties through a minimally invasive surgical technique (MIS).
I also perform minimally invasive procedures for the knee when the condition warrants, including arthroscopic surgery for torn cartilage and other pathologies, cartilage/ meniscal transplantation, and endoscopic ACL reconstruction. I also do "Unispacer" arthroscopic knee replacement, "Oxford" unicompartmental arthroplasty, and traditional total knee replacement arthroplasty as the case dictates.
I spent 11 years active duty in the U.S. Army. I was trained in the military. In that capacity I treated the entire scope of orthopaedic injury and disease. I still enjoy a general orthopaedic practice caring for adults and children for their musculoskeletal injuries and complaints. I have restricted my practice, however, to exclude neck and spine injuries and disease. I enjoy caring for the myriad of other orthopaedic concerns including fractures, injuries and disease of the hands/wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders (including total shoulder replacement), as well as hips, knees, ankles and feet. I look forward to the opportunity to help patients recover from whatever musculoskeletal condition concerns them in a timely, friendly, and competent manner.
