My approach to treating patients
One of the most enjoyable parts of being an orthopedic surgeon is the opportunity to make a noticeable difference in the quality of people's lives. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways---most of the time without surgery. Often exercise or medication can be used to resolve many musculoskeletal problems.
My goal is to provide compassionate and individualized care for every patient. I take the time to understand each patient's specific work, daily life and recreational activites. This allows me to better appreciate how their life is impacted by their musculoskeletal problem. I am readily available and make sure that all questions are answered. I have had a high level of orthopedic training and experience, and when surgery does become the best option I am able to combine this knowledge with a careful approach to provide the best result possible.
My area of expertise is sports medicine with emphasis on shoulder and elbow problems and knee cartilage and ligament injuries. I trained with two world renowned orthopedic surgeons, Dr. James Andrews and Dr. William Clancy, Jr. I utilize the most up-to-date techniques for both open and arthroscopic treatment of a variety of shoulder and elbow problems. In addition, I have significant experience with both straightforward and complex knee ligament reconstruction procedures including those to the ACL, PCL and posterolateral corner. Having played high school football in Northeast Ohio and at the Division I college level for four years I can appreciate orthopedic problems from both the doctor's and player's perspective.
Most of all I enjoy taking care of a wide range of orthopedic problems. These include arthritis, fracture care, ligament and cartilage problems. My patients have ranged from little leaguers to professional athletes, toddlers to grandparents, office workers to construction workers, but everybody has received the same individualized approach to care.
