Achievements

Dr. Evangelista graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with Honors in Chemistry. He received his medical degree from New York University. Dr. Evangelista continued his training in orthopaedic surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York. During his time in New York, Dr. Evangelista served as a staff physician for the New York Mets Major League Baseball Team, as well as the Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey Dance Companies. During his residency, Dr. Evangelista had the opportunity to complete extra training in orthopaedic trauma and fracture care at the world renowned R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD.

After completing his residency in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Evangelista moved to Tucson, AZ. He completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the University of Arizona. This fellowship, which is the oldest sports medicine fellowship in the country, focuses on the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery, cartilage repair, and complicated reconstructions of torn ligaments and tendons.

While at the University of Arizona, Dr. Evangelista served as an assistant team physician for the University of Arizona Athletic Program. He was also a staff physician for: the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Pima College, the Professional Cowboys Rodeo Association, and Sunnyside High School.

Dr. Evangelista has also served as an attending physician at the University Physicians Hospital in Tucson, as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon. He has extensive experience in the treatment of complicated fractures and soft tissue injuries of the arms and legs. He is a Clinical Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Evangelista has always had a strong interest in education. He has been responsible for teaching numerous residents and medical students both in New York City, Tucson, and Phoenix. He has held teaching appointments both within New York University and the University of Arizona Medical Schools. He has lectured about numerous topics in orthopaedic surgery and has been asked to teach his techniques in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder to other practicing orthopaedic surgeons at professional courses. Dr. Evangelista is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
