My approach to treating patients

As a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon, I specialize in all orthopaedic spine disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine in both adolescent and adults.

My focus is in both non-operative & operative treatments of spinal disorders. These include Degenerative, Deformity, Infections, Stenosis, disc disease, and Tumor. I am also trained in Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery for both decompression and fusions, and utilize traditional and state of the art surgical techniques such as artificial disc replacement.

Conservative spine care includes Trunk Stabilization physical therapy, various types of medications, activity modification, and therapetic injections. Most patients will respond to one of many non-operative programs, and will usually return to their pre-back pain state. Conservative management is the initial focus of my practice and patient care.

Currently I am the President of the Desert Institute for Spine Disorders, PC in Scottsdale Arizona, and the Spine Service Medical Director for Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn, Shea, and Thompson Peak campuses. I have been in practice in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Arrowhead Lakes areas since 2001 and continue to stay active in ongoing research on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. I have been an active spine lecturer for various organizations.

On a personal note, I am of direct Bermudian descent and continue to stay active in my community and volunteer my time both in the US and in Bermuda. I currently serve in the US Airforce National Guard as an Aerospace Medicine Flight Surgeon supporting combat search and rescue, and have worked in this capacity since 1997.

Our patients typically come from the entire Phoenix area as well is the remainder of Arizona. We request that all new patients pre-register prior to their first visit by completing the Spine Questionnaire and other forms. The questionnaire and forms can be printed or downloaded from this web site. Please "click" OFFICE FORMS & POLICIES tab located to the left.
