About myself and my practice

Welcome to Dr. Kissin's website. This site was developed to help patients understand their conditions and treatment options. I am a Board Certified Sports Medicine and Joint Reconstruction Specialist, with a specific interest in conditions of the knee. I earned my medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Israel, for which I am currently on the admissions committee. I completed my Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Albert Einstein-Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. I went on to complete a sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute, and following graduation, I joined this practice as an attending physician. I currently treat patients in Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, which is the recipient of the Health Grades Award in Joint Replacement Surgery. Currently, my practice is focused on total joint replacement, sports medicine and trauma/fracture surgery, specializing in conditions involving the knee joint. This allows me to treat patients of all ages and with a wide variety of conditions, from acute injuries to chronic degenerative conditions. I am currently involved in clinical research, have lectured at national and international meetings and have published articles and book chapters on the subject of orthopedic surgery. I am also fluent in Hebrew and Russian.

My practice strives to meet patients' individual needs through comprehensive evaluation and treatment designed to help them achieve an active, pain-free lifestyle. Many musculoskeletal conditions can be treated by non-surgical techniques--surgery is just one treatment option. We combine leading edge techniques with clinically proven traditional methods to provide our patients with the best orthopaedic care possible.

I try my best to develop an open line of communication with my patients to fully understand how the physical problem affects each patient's life. This communication does not end when the patient leaves the office. My patients are given resources (printouts, websites, etc) to help understand their condition, as well as my personal contact information in case any other questions arise between visits. My goal is an informed patient who feels comfortable with the treatment they are receiving.
