Physician Assistant

Greg M. Palm, MS, PA-C joined the Waco Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team in March 2015 and works with Chad S. Conner, MD who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle.

Greg grew up in New Hampshire and attended Merrimack High school where he captained the soccer and track teams. Following high school, he attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN where he was an all-conference sprinter and captained the track team his senior year. The year following college, Greg worked as an assistant coach to the Rhodes track and field team and scribed at the Methodist University Hospital Emergency Department. He then began physician assistant school at top ranked Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. While completing his degree he was recruited by Dr. Conner, and after he finished his training he moved to the Heart of Texas to begin work at the Waco Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic.

Greg is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistant and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants. In his free time, he enjoys both watching and playing sports, working out, and church. He is excited to become a part of the Waco community. What is a physician assistant? A physician assistant (or PA) is a nationally certified and state-licensed medical professional. Physician assistants are graduates of an accredited PA program, which are in the same educational format as physicians. They are highly qualified practitioners who are capable of functioning with autonomy as authorized by his or her supervising doctor. They practice medicine on healthcare teams with physicians and other providers. PAs are trained to recognize when patients need the attention of a supervising doctor or another specialist.

What do PAs do? Take a medical history Conduct physical exams Diagnose and treat illnesses Order and interpret tests Develop treatment plans Counsel on preventive care Assist in surgery Write prescriptions Make rounds in hospitals

How do Greg and Dr. Conner work together? Greg and Dr. Conner are colleagues. They work together to ensure access to quality healthcare in a cost-effective and timely manner. The relationship begins with a mutual trust and respect. They function as a team in providing quality medical services. Greg is a representative of Dr. Conner and treats patients in the style and manner developed and directed by Dr. Conner.
