Community activities

My family and I live in the Weston community, about 15 minutes from my Pembroke Pines office location. I volunteer as the sports medicine physician to cover 5 local area high school athletic programs-- including Cypress Bay High School (Weston), Everglades High School and Miramar High School (Miramar), Flanagan High School (Pembroke Pines), and Cooper City High School (Cooper City). In the fall, this volunteer work includes attending 1-2 varsity football games per week. For the rest of the year, this involves supervising athletic trainers and being available to see high school athletic injuries from other sports (especially basketball, soccer, hockey, wrestling, and lacrosse).

I have lectured at community education programs on osteoporosis, arthritis, sports injuries, prevention of sports injuries, and other topics. I even published an article in a local Weston paper on the prevention of sports injuries.

I believe in being active in the community in which I live and work-- giving my time and energy to help people in need, hopefully making for a healthier, safer, and happier city.

Other staff in my practice

I have a full-time physical therapy department in my office.

Physical Therapy is an important component in the treatment of most orthopaedic conditions. Therapy sessions include modalities for decreasing pain and inflammation, such as ice, heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, and traction. These sessions also include stretching and strengthening exercises, which also need to be performed at home to further the healing process.

Some insurance plans will dictate where patients can have therapy, while other insurance plans have a more open access policy. When possible, I prefer patients use my therapy department because this allows much closer supervision of therapy progress and faster, more accurate modification of the treatment plan.
