Approach to treating patients

Children's Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates, L.L.P. (COSSA), specializing in pediatric orthopaedics, has been practicing in the Tampa Bay Area since July 1988. Sheila M. Love, M.D. was the first pediatric orthopaedic specialist at All Children's Hospital. Now a group of four, each physician has excellent credentials and has completed fellowships in pediatric orthopaedic surgery. Since 1996, the practice has established excellence in providing medical care with the honor of being selected for Best Doctors in America.

COSSA's offices are located in St. Petersburg and Tampa.

Jeffrey B. Neustadt, M.D. has been selected for Best Doctors in America since 1996. Since 1991, he has been an Affiliate Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine. His orthopaedic residency training was at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. He did a pediatric orthopaedic and scoliosis surgery fellowship at The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Before coming to St. Petersburg, Dr Neustadt was an instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University in 1990 and 1991. He was an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) in 2004 and again in 2005. He is a Fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society and is currently conducting research projects in scoliosis surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, The Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and the Pinellas and Hillsborough County Medical Societies.

Scott W. Beck, M.D. has been named continuously in Best Doctors in America since 2003. He has been an Affiliate Assistant Professor at USF, School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery since 1998. Dr. Beck received his medical degree from the University of Utah. After finishing his surgery internship at UC San Francisco, he went on to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery from Creighton-Nebraska Universities Health Foundation in Omaha. Dr. Beck completed his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at San Diego Children's Hospital. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. Dr. Beck is also currently the Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Gregory V. Hahn, M.D. has been selected for the honor of Best Doctors in America since 2003. He has the honor of being named in America's Top Surgeons in 2005 and 2006. He is Affiliate Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of South Florida School of Medicine and is currently Vice Chief of staff at All Children's Hospital in Saint Petersburg, FL. He received a B.A. from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He stayed at the University of Pennsylvania for his orthopaedic residency training and completed his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at San Diego Children's Hospital. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Florida Orthopaedic Society and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and his special interest is scoliosis.

Tracy J. Roberts, M.D. is a native of Florida, and happy to be returning to this state. She began her healthcare career as a physical therapist and was the Director of Physical Therapy for outpatient sports medicine and rehab. She earned both a degree in Cellular Molecular Biology and Physical Therapy degree prior to entering Medical school. Tracy graduated from the University of Florida, School of Medicine where she was awarded the Peer Selected Competency Award twice. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Florida Shands. In July 2009 she completed her fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Roberts was the Director of Physical Therapy for an outpatient sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic that led her to the decision to attend Medical school. Her work with Special Olympics participants and high school athletes led to her decision to attend medical school and pursue training in orthopaedic surgery. She has always been involved in volunteer work she has done medical missions to foreign countries.

Cody Thompson PA-C, MS Graduated from Towson University Physician Assistant program in Baltimore, Maryland. He was President of his 2005 graduating class and helped organize efforts in raising more than $10,000 for charities such as Toys For Tots, Bea Gaddy's Foundation for the Homeless and Adopt a Family. Cody was raised in St. Petersburg and graduated with his Bachelor's degree from University of South Florida.

Sheila Spencer is from Vanceburg, Kentucky. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Morehead State University. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received a Bachelor's degree in Surgical Physician Assistant Studies.

Kristen Winne
PA- C, MMS
Kristen Winne, PA-C, MMS, graduated from Nova Southeastern University's Physician's Assistant program in Fort Lauderdale. She attended the University of Central Florida as an undergrad, where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Biological and Physical Sciences. Kristen was brought up in Cocoa Beach on the East coast of Florida, and worked in General Pediatrics in rural Sebring, Florida before moving to St. Pete. She is excited to be here and looks forward to combining her pediatric experience with orthopaedics and surgery.

Cara Cimilluca
PA- C
Cara is a Certified Physician's Assistant as well as a Certified Athletic Trainer. She is originally from Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Athletic Training and received her Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. She previously worked in spine surgery for three years in Dallas, TX, before joining us.

Jessica received her Masters of Clinical Medical Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies from Barry University in 2007. She attended University of Florida for undergrad, where she received a Bachelor of Health Science.
