My approach to treating patients

You can learn more about my approach to hip and knee surgery by logging on to www.charleshopemd.com.

As an experienced physician with more than 19 years of specialization in orthopaedics, I take a highly personal approach to caring for my patients. I believe that knowledgeable patients make the best decisions about their own treatment. That's why I explain every step of the diagnostic process. Next, I want my patients to understand their condition: How it developed and how various treatment approaches can improve or repair the problem. When we consider treatment alternatives, I present a realistic outlook on the results we can achieve. I'll also be frank about any risks that might be involved. If a non-surgical option is available, I'll explain that avenue in depth. My practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee disorders including total joint replacement surgery. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and have performed over 2000 minimally invasive computer-assisted total knee replacements and over 1000 minimally invasive anterior approach hip replacements. I routinely perform 10-15 joint replacements and see 100 clinic visits each week. I apologize in advance if it takes a while to get in to see me, but there are only 24 hours in a day!

No orthopaedic surgeon practices without the support of a professional team and I am certainly no exception! I am pleased to introduce you to the highly trained and experienced treatment team that makes everything possible. Shannon Gulle PA-C, my physican's assistant, is with me in surgery and the clinic. Her assistance is invaluable to providing you with the best care possible. Brandi Toole, LPN, assists in the operating room and with my outpatient clinics. Debbie Stair and Brittany Pallpalotoc are the medical assistants who coordinate my surgery schedule. The work long hours to ensure surgical patients are medically optimized for their upcoming surgery. Anissa Ervin and Ashley Dockery are medical assistants who manage my clinic schedules and facilitate your pre and post operative visits. Each one of my medical assistants is always ready with a smile to get help and answers for you. As a team we can provide faster, better care for you. Together, we are committed to providing the best possible orthopaedic care to our rapidly growing patient family.
