My approach to treating patients

My name is Douglas Boardman, and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. I am a Board certified orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional orthopaedic care for the past 8 years.

I've gained an immeasurable amount of experience in many aspects of general orthopaedics including arthroscopy, joint replacement, and trauma, with a specialty in Elbow & Shoulder Surgery.

As a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Residency Program, I have years of surgical experience and you can be assured that my clinical credentials are excellent.

In addition, I've completed post-residency Fellowship training in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at the Mayo Clinic to complement my broad experience in general orthopaedics.

I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the shoulder and elbow, including arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, sports injuries, fractures and dislocations. I have significant experience performing reverse total shoulder arthroplasty as well as conventional anatomic shoulder replacement surgery. I am also performing specialized research in shoulder and elbow fracture management.

I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you, and to helping you achieve your best possible musculoskeletal health.
