My approach to treating patients

Welcome to this web site. It is my desire that this information helps you make decisions about your care or the care of your family members or friends.

Since joining the Columbia Orthopaedic Group in 1994, my practice has been dedicated to treating arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. That may involve non-surgical treatment such as physical therapy, oral medications, or injections. However, it may also involve surgical treatment such as arthroscopy, joint resurfacing surgery, or joint replacement surgery. The best surgery for a given patient may utilize minimally invasive techiques, or it may require more traditional techniques. The real art of orthopaedic surgery is knowing which treatment is appropriate for each patient's particular condition or situation. That is my responsibility and is a challenge I enjoy.

Patients do not need to live close to Columbia, Missouri in order to receive treatment here. Patients have come to see me not only from states adjoining Missouri, but also from North Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, and California, as well as from other countries including South Africa and the Philippines. My staff and I are accustomed to the additional requirements of patients coming from a distance. We are happy to help with arrangements for you and your family if needed.

Other staff in my practice

I would like to introduce you to two members of my staff. Ray Erickson is a Clinical Nurse Specialist. He assists me in seeing paitents in the office as well as assisting in surgery. Ray has worked with me for nine years. Beverly Wilcox is my secretary. She has worked with me since I joined the Columbia Orthopaedic Group. We all participate in the care of each patient. Our goal is to be professional, courteous, compassionate, and responsive in dealing with each patient's needs. We also strive to provide care that exceeds expectations.
