My approach to treating patients

Hello, I'm Dr. Scott Oliver. I have been Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth Massachusetts since 1995. Welcome to my orthopedic website, where you will find useful information concerning our office. Here you can find about our office hours, our location and the services we offer. Our practice is one of the premier community programs in the state, with outstanding orthopedic surgeons, all physicians with excellent credentials. At our practice we also have x-ray services, as well as an experienced therapists in both physical and occupational (hand) therapy. Also on site, the Jordan Hospital has an extremity MRI, one of four in the state and unique for a community hospital. Together our group of professional health care providers can provide the best orthopedic care in Massachusetts. The Jordan orthopedic surgeons have been awarded the coveted Five Star rating for our hip, knee and shoulder replacement outcomes, W achieved only by a few Massachusetts hospitals. Now we have pioneered a new program of computer navigated hip and knee surgery. The results have been excelllent and our orthopedic team has decreased the length of the "down time" associated with these major operations. Many patients have already benefitted from these innovative procedures. Since 2003, we have now completed over 2000 total hip and knee replacements, using minimally invasive techniques. This results in a "fusion of new technique with new technology". We are also excited to announce our "MRSA Program", a first for a community hospital that began January 2008. All patients scheduled for joint replacemsnt at the Jordan are tested pre-operatively for MRSA, the bacteria that can cause devastating infection. If a patient tests positive then a program of special cleansing and appropriate antibiotics is initiated. This has cut our infection rate by 40%. We included valuable medical information concerning various orthopedic conditions. Some of these articles have been provided to us by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and some have been written by our office staff. Please feel free to browse through the various topics to find information that may be useful to you. We believe that it is very important for patients and their family members to understand their medical condition and the various treatments that may be offered. Our orthopedic surgeons are ready to provide you with the most up-to-date treatment, and because of our dedication to continuing medical education, we are on the "cutting edge" of orthopedic technology. We hope that the resources provided here will be helpful to you. Since 1982, it has been our goal to provide residents of the South Shore and Cape Cod with excellence in orthopedic care. Our physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, radiologic technologists and office staff are dedicated to fulfilling this commitment to you. Our dream is to make your dream come true.
