Background
Shoulder, Hip and Knee Specialist
Justin D. Saliman, MD is a sports medicine and athroscopy specialty trained orthopaedic surgeon at the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center and he is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Ceterix Orthopaedics, Inc. (www.ceterix.com). He specializes in minimally invasive joint preserving treatments for the shoulder, hip and knee.
Dr. Saliman completed a sports medicine fellowship at Stanford University where he provided care for the San Francisco 49ers and Stanford and Santa Clara athletic teams. His residency in orthopaedic surgery was completed at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center of Columbia University in New York City. He earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in his home town of Denver.
Dr. Saliman is at the forefront of innovation on minimally invasive devices, implants and techniques to repair injured or degenerative joints. His present focus is on cutting edge techniques and innovations to decrease pain, repair anatomy and improve function in the shoulder, hip and knee.
MENISCUS REPAIR: Dr. Saliman invented a revolutionary meniscus repair device for which he founded the start-up Ceterix Orthopaedics, Inc. with top Bay Area medical venture partners. This new device allows him to minimally invasively place circumferential stitches around meniscus tears in ways previously impossible to sew. This new technology enables the entirety of the torn meniscal surface to be compressed together during healing, and it does so without the risks to neurovascular structures in the back of the knee that are currently present with all other meniscus repair techniques. This device maximizes healing while minimizing risk. www.ceterix.com
HIP ARTHROSCOPY: Dr. Saliman is at the cutting edge of FAI (femoroacetabular impingement) and labral repair surgery. He employs the latest, most effective techniques available. He is one of only a handful of surgeons with extensive experience with this somewhat new, but very effective, surgical procedure. http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/About-Us/HH-Landing-Pages/For-active-adults-a-procedure-to-ease-hip-pain.aspx
ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR: Dr. Saliman utilizes the most modern all-arthroscopic techniques for treatment of large, small and partial rotator cuff tears to optimize patient outcomes and minimize rehabilitation times. He addresses all pain generators at the time of surgery to maximize his patients ability to return to a painless, fully functional shoulder.
Dr. Saliman has published articles in various journals such as The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Topics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Annals of Biomedical Engineering. He is board certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
