My approach to treating patients

I am Jose Maria R. Coruña, an orthopedic surgeon practicing in Bacolod City, the Philippines. Welcome to my website. I have been in practice in this community since 1986. When I first established practice in Bacolod City, there was no pager, no cellular phone, no internet. Times have certainly moved on ever since. As an orthopedic surgeon my main concern is trauma and joint diseases; for the layman, those would be fractures and arthritis. My sub-specialty fellowship training is on adult reconstruction, particularly hip and knee replacement. With specialized training, it is very easy to look at "fractures" or "hips and knees" rather than persons with ailments. I usually ground myself by reminding myself to treat the whole person rather than the disease, but if I forget myself, please remind me of it and excuse the over-enthusiasm.
