Achievements

Dr. Hickey has served as President for the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society, and has represented our area as a delegate for the last five years to the North Carolina Medical Society at their Annual Meeting. He most recently has been appointed to sit on the NCMS Nominating and Leadership Development Committee, the Physician Hospital Issues Committee, NCMS Political Action Committee, the NCMS Medical Society Foundation Leadership College Selection Committee. He is a graduate of the NCMS Leadership College in 2007 and has served as chairperson for several reference committees.

Community activities

Dr. Hickey is married and has two children. He is an avid runner and cyclist. He has coached youth soccer for the Cape Fear Soccer Association and since 2006 has served on the New Hanover County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Dr. Hickey has a strong commitment to the youth of New Hanover County and is serving as a member of the New Hanover County Board of Education for a four year term that began in 2011.
