Achievements

Dr. Hickey is currently serving as the President-Elect for the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society, and has represented our area as a delegate for the last several years to the North Carolina Medical Society at their Annual Meeting. He most recently has been appointed to sit on the NCMS Nominating and Leadership Development Committee, the Physician Hospital Issues Committee, NCMS Political Action Committee, the NCMS Medical Society Foundation Leadership College Selection Committee. He is a graduate of the NCMS Leadership College in 2007 and chaired a reference committee.

Community activities

Dr. Hickey is married and has two children. He is an avid runner and cyclist. He has coached youth soccer for the Cape Fear Soccer Association and since 2006 has served on the New Hanover County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Dr. Hickey has a strong committment to the youth of New Hanover County and in 2010 intends to run for a seat on the New Hanover County School Board.
