My approach to treating patients
My practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the hand and upper extremity. I am Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery has recognized me as an expert in Hand and Upper Extremity by awarding me a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in this field. I am a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
I graduated from the NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program where I was awarded the Freunthal Award for clinical research and completed a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at Stanford University. I am currently the Director of Hand Surgery at the Dobb Ferry Pavilion of St. Johns Riverside Health Care System. This training and experience allows me to bring you the most up-to-date treatment options including arthroscopy and other minimally invasive techniques(including hand, wrist, carpal tunnel, elbow and shoulder). Patients with arthritis, fractures, sprains, dislocations, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, sports injuries, and many other conditions are treated expertly. Most patients can be treated without surgery, however those that require surgery will benefit from my experience of thousands of operations successfully perfomed.
I have authored numerous book chapters and journal articles on many topics including tendon injury, wrist fractures, wrist instability, rheumatoid arthritis, total joint replacement in the upper extremity, perioperative pain management and bone graft substitutes. I serve as a contributing editor to the prestigious annual journal "Yearbook in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery". I work with many recreational, elite and professional atheletes and have provided services to the New York Mets, and the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.
As a patient in my practice you will receive exceptional care and attention. I believe in listening to my patients and then educating them on their condition. This allows us to make the best treatment decisions together.
Outside of my practice I am involved in a variety of activities including coaching youth sports teams and am an avid fundraiser and Board Member of the Lympatic Research Foundation. I am an active participant in many sports including Triathlon, distance running, biking, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, basketball and weight training and am a former collegiate soccer and rugby player. Currently my passion is endurance sports and in the last few years I have completed the New York City Marathon and IRONMAN Florida. I have also started a charity triathlon team where we raise funding and awareness for the Lymphatic Research Foundation.
